Grammy award-winning singer Annie Lennox is on her way back to South Africa for a one-off, unplugged performance in aid of charity. Famous for fronting the 1980s group The Eurythmics, Lennox will perform at the Teatro theatre in Montecasino on July 8 to raise funds and awareness for her SING Foundation.

The SING campaign was set up by the Little Bird singer in 2007, reportedly after the singer was touched by former President Nelson Mandela's description of the HIV-Aids pandemic as a "genocide".

Penny Stein, spokeswoman for the event, said: "Audiences will see the star up close and personal, accompanied by nothing other than her piano and her stories."

Proceeds raised through the event will be used to prevent the spread of the disease, and those affected and infected by it.

Tickets are R1000 and are available at Computicket.

Included in the price is a pre-show cocktail party in the ballroom with a special performance by the Soweto Gospel Choir. - thetimes.co.za
